• The English Language and Literature courses require you to investigate two plays. One, written by William Shakespeare and another by a modern British playwright such as Willy Russell or J.B. Priestley. It is another opportunity to explore character, theme and setting and to demonstrate your ability to develop an opinion about the narrative, support your ideas with quotations from the drama and then analyse the language that is used and its effect on the audience.

  • What genre of narrative do you enjoy the most? War, horror, crime, romance, thriller? Whatever type of stories you like to read or watch, this part of the course allows you to be creative with your writing. The aim of this unit it to give you opportunities to demonstrate your flair for writing. The best students are those that have a clear audience in mind and a well structured and entertaining story to tell... Is that you?

  • At the end of Year 10 on the GCSE course you have a mock exam. This will be part of a past paper and will show you and your teacher how well you are doing on the course. You will have time to revise for this exam and on this section of the intranet you'll find resources to help you with this revision.
